You must be affliliated with a PUBLIC SAFETY agency, Police, Fire, EMS or Military, full time or volunteer to be a professional level member.

PSDA & Water Rescue is an organization of dedicated individuals and public safety teams with an interest in water rescue, and public safety diving. The business of the Public Safety Diving Association & Water Rescue is the training and certification of the following: public safety divers, tenders, divemasters, public safety scuba instructors, lifeguards, water rescue specialists, water rescue instructors and water safety instructors. The organization offers two levels of membership, associate and professional. Associate membership is open to individuals and teams who are public safety divers, lifeguards, water rescue specialist and quick response units. Professional membership is offered to individuals trained as: public safety divemasters, asst. instructors, instructors, instructor trainer/evaluators water rescue instructors and water safety instructors. Scuba Instructors with expertise and/or certification in public safety may also qualify for professional membership.

Associate and professional membership is available to professional and volunteer members of Law Enforcement, Fire, Rescue, Public Safety Departments, government agencies, military and lifeguards. State of the Art training programs and educational materials are available from PSDA & Water Rescue headquarters. PSDA & Water Rescue programs meet all training standards of the NFPA, POST and OSHA. PSDA public safety diving instructors offer a variety of certification programs beginning with entry level Open Water Scuba (recreational), and Advanced Open Water (recreational). The recreational programs allow PSDA Instructors to train new divers with a complete academic and skills oriented program. The recreational programs are used to train members of Professional and Volunteer organizations in preparation for training as a public safety diver. The recreational certification cards and public safety cards have expiration dates. The cards must be renewed yearly by either the individual or the training officer of their team. Renewal requirements are based on continuing education, training time etc.. The goals of PSDA & Water Rescue are: promote training safety, offer quality and versatile public safety scuba training and water rescue training, offer scholarships for public safety training to individual members of professional and volunteer public safety teams.

PSDA’s Water Rescue program starts with the basic life guard program and progresses through swift water rescue. PSDA & Water Rescue offers training and certification as Water Safety Instructors (WSI) and Water Rescue Instructors (WRI) The Public Safety Diving Association & Water Rescue is the only public safety diving organization that is backed by a major scuba training agency, IDEA. The International Diving Educators Association (IDEA) is ranked as the fourth most popular scuba training agency world wide since 1994. IDEA is a charter member of the RSTC, WRSTC, (URP) Universal Referral Program and DEMA. PSDA & Water Rescue also offers professional liability insurance to our Instructors and Divemasters.
